Born in Leuven Belgium, I was fascinated by color since a young child. This didn’t always bring me in the favor of my art teachers, who found my combination of purples and yellows odd. I moved to Italy in the 80’s, following my globetrotting husband and since lived in France, Italy, USA, Caribbean. In the 80’s I took up watercolor painting with a friend. Moving to the US in the 90’s, while obtaining my degree in Interior Design and Art History from the University of California, San Diego, I took all extracurricular drawing and painting classes I could find. This resulted in a series of Contemporary Houses in watercolor. When moving back to Italy, I started teaching drawing and Watercolor classes to children and adults. I continued my own education by taking a 2 week workshop in Botanical Watercolor at Kew Botanical Gardens, UK. When moving to the Caribbean in 2008, watercolor wasn’t strong enough to capture the light and rich colors of the Caribbean, so I moved on to acrylic. Since moving back recently to the Lakes area in Italy, I have returned to a former “love”, printmaking. The nostalgic feeling of the Lake area blends easily with the atmosphere of the prints, who are mostly monocromatic.
My many travels give me the ideas and inspiration for new work
I would like to end with a quote .
Art is the desire of a man to express himself, to record the reactions of his personality to the world he lives in.
