Anna Wouters was born in Oxfordshire and also has New-Zealand nationality. She grew up in Chester and now lives in Stratford-Upon-Avon.
She studied Visual Studies and German at Oxford Brookes University.
Anna aims to capture the feeling and atmosphere of a place in paint. She is inspired by the forces of nature and the effects of light on the sea, of storm, wind and sky. She aims to express an emotional connection with the landscape, sketching from nature and painting in the studio. She also paints to express personal feelings.
Anna loves to travel and soak up the atmosphere of cities in Europe and paint when she returns home. She has always painted whilst working part time and in 2016 she gave up working in Publishing and Export Sales to paint full-time.
She exhibited in the Elements IV group show at the A&D Gallery, London in May 2019, was a wildcard painter in the television show, Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year in November 2018 and had a solo exhibition in 2008 at the Jayne Powell Gallery in Kenilworth.
Anna’s work became popular with expats, when she worked at the International School of Dusseldorf, Germany and she painted commissions in Dusseldorf. Her work is held privately in the UK, USA, Germany, Holland, NZ and Dubai.
